Matthew has this "uncomfortable" conversation with a black man then goes on Fox and gives an interview. When asked to state his opinion of trump what does he do he remains silent. Weak. He is a hypocrite. His Fox interview was a chance to have an uncomfortable conversation about a racist white man but he preferred to remain silent? Why? However it's perfectly ok to have a an uncomfortable conversation with a black man. How about we start having uncomfortable conversation videos with a "White man". ?

But are we also going to acknowledge that the "allergies" are on both side? Or that as an employer, Lakeisha's or Jaquan hasn't been a super successful hire until very recently. The "Black names" are very new (late 70's early 80's) and previously we had names like June, Sara, John and Ray. When you simultaneously stand out for your name, and as a community, for crime, drugs, fatherless homes, and the results of which are poor work ethic because it isn't taught, those Black names aren't something you viscerally think are attached to success. DUH! We Keishas, LaShauns, and Jalontes have to change the narrative by proving ourselves to be the opposite. That's called taking responsibility, not asking for unearned respect. Use an initial and get over yourself. Make something of yourself.

I agree with almost all of what you say Emmanuel but have to admit, I do not agree with you saying: “individually, you have to acknowledge implicit bias”... as if that’s unique to only white people. My friend, we all have implicit bias. It’s rooted in stereotypes. To be honest, I think Morgan Freeman has been suggesting a better solution to racism for years than this acknowledging our implicit bias’s (in other words, that we all racial profile): if you want to get rid of racism, quit talking about it

It's uncomfortable for me as a Black Women just having dinner with my White *platonic* male friend. Black Men staring at me while flirting with other White Women. Black Woman looking at me, sucking their teeth when he holds doors, pulling out chairs. White waitresses flirt with my date in front of me. Give their phone numbers when I go to the ladies room. Bruthas try and smut on my Rep. Yep... That was how my evening went. We had a great time though, smiling, laughing. We had a great evening!!! It's not about Color. It's about an Energy. That's my story. That is my truth as a Black woman in NYC! Unfamiliarity breeds contempt. Get to know people and stop being so afraid. Thank you.

When I read white allergies in the title I was like, what? then when I heard the explanation, I said to myself, that makes sense. one way to make change is to vote leaders that actually want to make change. at a local, state, and federal level. reelecting the same politician for the last 20, 30, to 40 years shows that these politicians don't actually care. Politicians might say they want change but they don't actually mean it. We need leaders in office not politicians.

We shouldn't be called "Black". We should in fact, be called African because it's in our DNA. Jamaicans, Afro Cubans, "Black" Americans are all genetically African and don't need to deny that heritage just because of slavery. In fact, we should be reclaiming our African identity. We should be learning about Africa and embracing Africa. I feel like we would be less confused about our identity of we did research and educated ourselves.

Sounds like he grew up fairly middle class . Also, his theory on the impact of slavery doesn't apply to him personally. My question for him is where does black personal responsibility begin? His Ibo culture requires great deal of personal responsibility and accountability and they are extremely successful. When will he have that uncomfortable conversation ?

I have watched many of your videos as they pop up on my TVs youtube app, this is the first one that I can actually say I felt like gave context to what you're trying to do. The other videos that I have watched, from a white 21 y/o male standpoint, you seem to be focused on tearing down the white man. This is a backwards way of thinking. You want to build with the white man not take him down to get ahead. I understand that is what happened to black men and women in the past, but sometimes pride needs to be out on the shelf and help taking the next step onto a better life needs to be asked for. There will be racist and prejudice people, yes, but those are not the people who will even help another white man step ahead. Focus on what can be changed and let those who cannot be fade away and have their own lives wrecked by not being willing to change. Sincerely, A 21 y/o white male conservative libertarian

I acknowledge that white people have historically had a superiority complex, and consequently that non-white people, especially black people, roma and jews (suïcidal Otto Weininger) were forced into an inferiority complex. I acknowledge that white skin is culturally associated with the elite, and black skin with the proletariat, because more protection from sunlight was a luxury. Black people were able to work under the sun, so they were BETTER workers than white people. Racism was just an expedient theory to exploit and enslave the world proletariat i.e. non-white people. Racism is the confusion of fenotypical white skin with genotypical white skin. White people are not more noble, we are just adapted to areas with less sunlight.

Good day... I have just been made aware of your videos (started with seeing you on Jimmy Kimmel) and have started watching. I have found them inspiring and uplifting and really just wanted to reach out and say thank you. I've had many "uncomfortable" conversations myself with friends over the years because like Matthew said in this video... "You don't know what you don't know." These conversations have been very helpful in subsiding my early fears that I would be offensive without meaning to be. I've considered myself lucky to have individuals in my life who have been willing to share their perspective. But I have really enjoyed observing the conversations that you've had, because the questions being asked are not always ones that I've thought to ask. So again, I than you for your candor and your willingness to open the dialogue.

Honestly i cried my eyes out during this conversation..because although i agree there is stereotypical racism and bias..i also know it goes both ways!!! i had to go to a black neighbourhood and visit a client, when i approached the house, the house nearby i parked, had a bunch of black and brown boys sittig outside, before i could jump out of the car, they proceeded to stand up approach my car and proclaim loudly that i had no business being there and that i was there for ill intended reasons and that i was not welcome there at all!!!(in so many words) i felt very much threatened and unsafe i then decided to leave and even though it was an inconvenience decided to call the client and park in the driveway.. I have never felt more disrespected and intimated(while doing nothing at all) in my life!!! I want to know how when your absolutely innocent and faced with something like that!!! Do you start a conversation?? Do i explain immediately what im doing there?? ( even though its no1s business, its confidential between me and the client, or what do i to be heard in that situation?? My question is to both black and white prejudices, because its getting rediculous now!!!

My main issue with some of these conversations is the lack of dialogue from the guests on the opposing points. For example, Emmanuel mentioned how some white people called him an Oreo or "smart for a black man." But that's not something that A) all white/non-black people say and B) it's not unique to only black people. As a Hispanic person, I've heard similar things and others such as, why don't you speak Spanish, aren't you Hispanic? Or, you're tall for a Mexican (I'm not Mexican BTW). And I don't think many Black people are asked if they speak English. People assume they're African American, even if they are in fact from Africa (as some of my friends are). These conversations, although important, also seem only aimed at educating white or non-black people and not black people themselves. But as any of us who have Black friends know, some of the very things he accused white people of have been done by Black people to Black people. I've heard my Black athletic friends make fun of other Black guys because of the way they dress, the cars they drive or the lifestyle they live. Racism is not limited to just white people, it's something that can resonate in the heart of any human being on Earth. If the goal is to rid it from this planet through education, then all aspects of it from all races should be involved. That is, every Race and Ethnicity in America should be included in these conversations, not just White and Black.

If that were true, why are left-most politicians the most adamant supporters of policies which most benefit minorities? An expeditious immigrant application process, universal healthcare, opportunity zones, police reform. All of these help out minorities, yet most conservative politicians are opposed to the majority of them. Don't start acting like conservatives are champions of equality. They weren't in the civil war, they weren't in the civil rights movements, and as they wave their Blue Lives Matter flags, they sure as hell aren't today.

Black or African American if it was up to me it would be non. Just a man or a description like long sleeve or a polo shirt. Ohh an accountability from the oppressed because sometimes an oppressed only knows and only acknowledges opposition. Some people that feel oppressions will go as far as sabotaging themselves to be oppressed. You may wonder how. Well if you have a roommate or a neighbor that is being an asshole to everyone but because your an oppressed you will correlate it to themselves. Yes other races are also suppose to learn to be understanding that not all people are the same but they are sometimes just taking inventory of action. Also to much sensitivity if a person is used to dealing with people that look like me and what’s to also treat me in the same way well then that my opportunity to first acknowledge and if don’t agree then it’s in my best interest and the interest of other people like me to represent in a better way and treat the person with the opportunity to remember that we are not all the same. Groups are also negative because we unknowingly are segregating ourselves. Instead of just belong to the humankind group. Iunderstand I don’t want to loose my culture but we have to find a common manner. I see it like this in the future if we travel in space and discover other life forms we would be identified as humankind. If you want your house to be respected you have to have a respectful house before you point out others homes.

His explanation of African-American was wrong. The term African-American refers to descendants of the survivors of chattel slavery in the USA. African-Americans come from a mix of differing African ethnicities that were separated and mixed up during the slave trade so because we can’t pinpoint our origin, it’s generally Africa. Africans who migrate intentionally to America just claim their country; ex: Kenyan-American. What we all have in common is “Black” which is universal term for people discernibly of Africa descent. People of the “Black Diaspora.”

I must admit. I didn't know I was given back-handed compliments from white people for a long time. .... I wish I was your color , your like perfectly tanned. 🤔 "I would of never guessed you were from an inner city" you don't act like it". I bet I have to work out in the gym to get big muscles for you huh" because I know you like guys that just got out of prison". And the list goes on.
